Mohala Santharamohana
DIRECTOR

Mohala Santharamohana comes from a diverse career background which includes teaching, environmental conservation and cultural documentation with local and indigenous communities.
 
Among career highlights are positions as Communications, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) Officer with Wetlands International, an environmental NGO based in Wageningen, Denmark; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Executive at HSBC Bank Malaysia; Special Officer to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment: Environment Portfolio; and Managing Editor for the Malaysian Naturalist and Malayan Nature Journal at the Malaysian Nature Society.
 
Mohala has written and edited nature guide books, one of which is Knowledge and Beliefs of the Indigenous Semelai People of Tasek Bera and coffee table books such as Malacca: Where Forestry Began, Adat Perpatih A Timeless Beauty and Penang: Evergreen Pearl of the Orient. Her other passions are sustainable development, volunteering with NGOs to plant trees or as a mangrove guide; taking people trekking and camping in forests; visiting organic farms to research on sustainable agricultural practices so she can use the knowledge for her farm when she retires; traditional craft and culture, cuisine, and music of the indigenous people of Malaysia as well as that of ethnic groups of the world.

Mohamad Azhar Hashim
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mohamad Azhar Hashim, FCIS (UK), LL.M (Business Law), B. Econs (hons.)(IIUM), joined University Malaya as the Director of the Malaysian Centre for Regulatory Studies (UMCoRS) on 1 December 2009. He started his career with Bank Negara Malaysia and has since served in many senior positions in various industries from the Malaysian Mining Corporation Berhad MMC Corp), Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad to Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad (MDV). He is A Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) and a member of Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA). He is also a certified language translator with the Malaysian Institute of Translation (ITNM). His areas of interest are corporate governance, risk management, business and professional ethics and macroeconomics.
